Hello what do you guys use to make rigs . As in what main rig line and what line do u use for snoods?

Dose colour make a diffrence as pulled in a few rigs lately and seen some strange rigs and weird coloured ones I thought they might even scare fish off?

Want to start making up some Ray rigs and a few sole rigs . And a few plaice rigs

    Cheers for any advice

    Jim,
I only use clear Sakuma rig body in 70 & 80 lb and Amnesia for snoods in various strengths .
Plenty of other good ones out there but I've never had this combo let me down so have confidence in it and won't be changing anytime soon.

Tried fluro carbon got some 0.30 Turbertini Gorrilla but find it spins up and it is hard to straighten.

I prefer Sufix supreme for my traces , Sakuma like stretches like elastic ,I have used it but didn't like it at all . For snoods I use Amnesia for anything up to 50 lbs and Suffix or Rovex for anything heavier

    Hiya Chippy,
I use clear 80lb Ultima Powerflex for my rig bodies.
For snoods- upto 30lb or so i use Amnesia, prefer clear but thats just me, as i have caught plenty of fish on the black & the red Amnesia.
For the Huss, Rays & Smoothies i use clear 60lb Greased Weasel, tried 60lb Amnesia but found it really stiff & springy compared to G W.
    Rick;)

Sakuma is a bit stretchy but if you are using braid straight through I don't think it is a bad thing whereas Suffix I find too stiff but each to there own everyone has there favourites and it's mostly a confidence thing.

I've use a 5 foot piece of 4"x 1"with a couple of masonary nails banged in at each end to hold hooks and swivels while I tie my knots and marked off in feet and inches handy for cutting your rigs and snoods the same length.

I use sixty or 70lb clear line for rig bodies no real preference.
For hook snoods I always use Amnesia mostly clear in various strengths depending on rigs and target species, exception being when flattie bashing.
I have found that red is good for flatties but I pick up less other species at the same time, whereas if I stick with clear I might not get so many flatties but more chance of a bonus species.
I did experiment with some fluorocarbon in a bid to lighten my match rigs but I found in the hook lengths I wanted it tangled easier than 20lb Amnesia in the same length and didn't necessarily increase my catch rate.

Amnesia for snoods. not to worried about make for bodies, normally 60-80lb, apart from if making flappers for use with 1-3oz, then use 40lb line.

Do mine totally by guess work and have neoprene tube as stops so swivels are moveable.

80 lb ultima powerflex orange for rig bodies and 80lb clear asso shockleader for snoods works well down here for rays, hounds etc
