I found a zziplex bass on a very popular auction site. Am i allowed to post the link? If so can you confirm if its a real zziplex or not?? It just looks wrong to be honest.....

Foam grips were all the rage at one point and given the age of the zziplex bass line of rods it certainly could be legit just a really old rod that's had two or more rebuilds.

Also there have been many incarnations Of zziplex decals through the years, I've even seen some dodgy decals on rods rebuilt by pro builders. Sometimes they just weren't as readily available as now.

It could be genuine but then again it may not be,

On that auction site I can only suggest that if you think something looks dodgy then just avoid it without thinking twice.

Some good advice but to be fair I cant see anything in the ad that would concern me too much. All positive feedback and sold a fair amount of designer clothes with no complaints, and certainly not making any claims that the rod is anything but a second hand rebuild with a starting price to reflect...Bargain to be had there......Poirot KMA

Ps- I know a fair number of people who use foam grips on LD rods to pack them out a little

iv noticed it and i think its deffo a legit one. 15-20 years ago loads of rods had duplon grips on them, especially one for such a rod that may be held for long periods in the surf.

i reckon its had some use,but would be worth a look.

I've just bought zippie bass rod from gerrys and I opted for foam grips and a fixed reel seat

like i said i know zip about zippys, so if guys here who do say it genuine, then u have nothing to lose, nothing strange about a bass rod with duplon handles i must admit.

Could be a Zziplex Bass Light 11' 7" with 8' tip. I have one again from Gerry's & it has Duplon grips just a lot newer that that in the picture. So could easily be the real thing.

The other one is making good money, a small bid won't always get it, if you are sure it's what you want, then hit it hard lol

I've no idea what rod it is but I'd be surprised if it's a cheap rod - all budget rods I've seen are equal sections, not an 8' tip.
