I fished the pollock comp, had a day with lures in June, had day ground fishing a couple of weeks ago and that's been it for me.

25th October trip lovely sunny day with calm seas could have still been summer. John had been given an inshore mark which had produced good size cod. We chugged down to of Peacehaven and circled looking for the spot. Anchored up and nothing not a nibble. Moving out further to several marks we did find loads of smallish mackerel and pouting heaven! Around lunchtime we headed east off Seaford head where in earlier years we had plenty of good size cod. We we immediately into shoals of whiting but most were very small and too small to keep but we also got large mackerel 6 every drop. It was near impossible to get through the whiting and mackerel. We tried various baits and even cod size Hokies and small lures but all took whiting or mackerel. Scrottocks did get a codling and Dingbat a large gurnard. For those that wanted to fill the freezer there was plenty of mackerel but not quite the day we had planned.

Newhaven inshore bait fishing has given us some of our biggest cod and several PBs in the past and it looks like they have returned this year in a big way:-
    https://www.facebook.com/seafishing.newhaven?fref=ts

A pity we could not get enough members signing up for our booked trips early enough to confirm them. If trips do not have full crews they will be cancelled 5 weeks before the date to give the skippers chance to get a new booking.

ONE CLICK COULD CHANGE FISHING HISTORY - PLEASE MAKE IT!

Tonight I urge you to play a vital role regardless of what species of fish you choose to catch.
New rules announced by the European Union will see a BAN on anglers retaining ANY bass from January to June and a one fish bag limit for the rest of the year.
Perhaps fair enough if this helps rebuild bass numbers...
BUT whilst the European Union ban us from taking our fish, the very same people have announced a FOUR MONTH exemption for gill netters - one of the most destructive and non selective forms of commercial fishing.
We've been stabbed in the back.
Please go to the petition link now and join both myself and the Angling Trust in fighting this European madness.
Fishing is counting on your voice… sign the petition and SHARE the post.

I am deeply saddened to hear today that our dear friend Piscatory, Diarmuid, passed away last Thursday having battled with cancer for the last few years. An English Gentleman and very keen angler. It was a great pleasure and honour having him as one of our members and crew. Forgive him his tangles and may he R.I.P.

The funeral is next Thursday at 12 noon at The Lady of Ransom Church, Grange Road, Eastbourne BN21 4EU. I have family contact details if anyone wants them.

Sad, sad day. Went to Piscatory's funeral service in Eastbourne. The last farewell. Such a kind, generous gentleman.
