First for a good few weeks due to health, almost had to look up the book to remember how to do them. Shipping today to Cornwall area to tie up with 2 Everol T Shot 80`s sent last week for those big mackeral. Conoflex glass / kevlar blanks, Pac Bay alloy reel seats, Pac Bay HD cradle guides and gimbals. Gold under with silver trim bands and Prowrap blue marlin (navy) thread over. My skills at photography are still leaving much to be desired.

a pair of AKAMI rods recently finished -- not a true rebuild as we decided 15977364_1803630933212119_1928864963356593651_n.jpg to retain the original finish and decals , which made preparing the rods something of a mission . they were originally fully wrapped with silver .==the job was prompted by a couple of stuck spigots after a cold night on Chesil ,resulting in 3 destroyed rings --moral - look after your spigots !

    Hi,

recently i've been busy with rebuilding my son's lure rod, as it had become quite shabby after years of use : cracked varnish, corrosion on many guide feet, scratches ...

first getting rid of old guides & varnishes, duplon handles, reel seat, etc ... :

after cleaning the blank, re-varnishing, etc... new reel seat and eva handles :

... and new single legs guides (ALPS), thread in cobalt blue with pearl white trim bands (they will turn blue-ish after highbuild = no cp) :

next step : highbuild, pics to follow .... ;)

Looking good gert, does the pearl white take on the blue because of bleed from the blue thread or is it just the pearl colouration of the white?

    Hi,

thank's. About the pearl white, it's just the way it changes colour with highbuild ... i've had it next to black = was the same. I'll post a few pics of the final result in a couple of days (in the dryer now;))

That pearl really changes, looks great against the blue.
Before the high build it was quite stark but it blends nicely once finished.

    Hi guys

Just wondering what your opinions are on white whipping ?

I'm getting at rod built on a white blank and I'm struggling for a colour scheme ha

Have anyone done much work on white blanks ? Seen the akimi builds above and they look quality but I've been told to steer clear of white whippings

All info and colour schemes welcome I will delete if I've posted in the wrong section

    Cheers

    Hi,

why would you have to stay clear of white whippings? :confused2:
