    Hi All,

I am totally new to the fishing scene went a few times as a boy but haven't been since. I tried both shore(saltwater) and fresh water fishing and preferred salt water. Looking for some advice as to where would be best to start out and build up some skills. The nearest beach to me is Aberavon or Swansea bay, mumbles etc. Thanks in advance guys !

    Andrew

First of all welcome to WSF and you are at the right place for tips as we are all still learning and no matter how good we think we are , there is always somebody who knows more. As for fishing your area you might be better off posting your questions on the west/ south west catch report page and the people on there will be more than happy to help . Regarding tips then just ask a question on the general fushing or shore angling page and once again people will be more than happy to help. Good look with your new hobby and tight lines:smile2:

    Hiya Andrew,
    Welcome aboard mate.
I've voted for Mumbles pier as apart from Burry Holms on the Gower its the only venue down your neck of the woods i've fished more than once.
Parking close by, tackleshop close by & an easy venue to fish to get you started.
    Rick;)

Welcome Andrew I'm from Swansea but lived in neath for years I would say Mumbles, starting out it's really well lite and if your alone usually thete are a few other anglers around fishing which is great for safety

You can fish the pier right at the end of it on a concrete structure at the back of the RNLI building, I would recommend going off near Verdi's (not sure I spelt that right) by the boats etc.

I fish down there now and again was down there this morning actually you can pretty much fish out of your car.

You are welcome to join me and my mate one evening if your interested in company and advice :) good luck
