    Hello all,

I really like using an x-rap Ayu when i'm struggling for bites. However all the marks i fish are shallow some 2-3ft max and the X-rap dives a bit deeper than that and as a suspender you can't just slow it down or stop and let it rise a bit before carrying on. So i decided to try adapting my lure.

    I'm totally new to modifying lures and i expect that others will think this child's play but to me it was a step into the unknown. I decided to grind down the bib on one of my lures to get it to swim shallower and i'm happy to say that it has worked really well. the lure swims a lot shallower say 1-2ft and i can use it much more now than before. It still bites nicely into the water and the tell tale high vibration that the x-rap does so well is still there almost unchanged. I'm sure that it casts better as it seems to tumble less often but not totally sure on that one. Pic below;

Yea it makes the lure much more useful to me when it doesn't dive so deep.
I was watching it swim nicely a foot or so off the bottom last time i used it. perfect

The more u cut off the shallower
    Can nearly make them float
    Plus there cheap
    To muck up lols
When have been casting surface lures in one area and the fish have gone down
Then that's the time for the xrap
Saved the day quite a few times in the past bazz
    Noticed your trebles have rust
Just get a big bottle of cod liver oil from Asda
    Costs a fiver
Just paint them with a brush
    Job done
Nice little slick comes off when they hit the water
    Bit like rubby dubby

    Great idea....
Here's an amusing vid confirming 'doctoring' bibs/lips is worthwhile!

From what I can gather...they've turned DUO Tide Minnows into shallower tracking bass magnets!
