The rod tip powered down in to the full fighting curve as a massive weight bored hard for the seabed dragging yard after yard of line off a tightly set clutch. The only option was to hang on and let the fish sap some of its strength, then pump the fish hard to gain a few feet before that hard won line was dragged off the reel again and again...
