Vitória(ES) – Brazil's female team assumed the leadership of the World-Wide Fishing Championship after second stage of the competition this Wednesday, at Praia do Riacho, in Guarapari. The team, that finished in sixth place in the first stage on Tuesday, in Camburi, won in Guarapari with surpluss: captured 23 fish, resulting in 1.781 gram in the total weighing. Adding the two stages, Brazil started to lead in the female competition with 2.980 grams. In second, comes Italy with 2.178 grams.
At the male competition, Wales, witch won the first stage, marches firm to conquer the title. It's enough to say that they also won the second stage with 4.112 grams and 11 fish. Brazil comes in sixth place in that stage with 1.165 grams (20 fish). Gathering the two stages, Brazil comes in third place with 8.425 grams. In first, comes Wales with 11.612 and in second Portugal with 10.009.
At the female individual, the Spaniard Sandra Dellafuente leads the competition with 1.528 grams in the two stages. Brazil is fighting for the first rank, especially with Eliana Augusto that is in third place with 789 grams. Érica Martins is in fifth.
At the male competition, after the two stages, the best is John Grarld from Wales that caught nothing less than 3.129 grams of fish. The Brazilian with better rank is Paulo Afonso de Medeiros, in fifth with 1.985 grams.
Praia do Riacho beach presented different conditions compared to Camburi beach, where it was realized the first stage. Beach of clear waters and bigger depth, made it possible the capture of heavier fish, several of them proceeding from rocky habitat.
It was a day that pleased a lot the Europeans. But Wales delegation preferred to keep the humbleness. "The conditions approached a little bit more with the one's from our country. But the balance must prevail. There is no winner yet", said Wales' captain, Mike Flynn.
This Thursday the delegations will compete in Regência, Linhares, from 10 am to 2 pm. On Friday the competition comes back to Camburi beach, from 8 am to 12:30 pm. On the 20th, the prizes will be rewarded. On the 21th, the delegations leave to their countries.
