World Shore Fishing Championship: Day 3

Vitória(ES) – Brazilian female team is really close to conquer the title of the World-Wide Fishing Championship. After assuming the leadership of the competition in the stage of Wednesday, realized at Praia do Riacho, in Guarapari, extended even more its advantage over the others adversaries in the stage of this Thursday, promoted at Regência, Linhares.

To have an idea of the great performance of the Brazilians in the stage of this Thursday, they had captured nothing less than 1.805 grams of fish (12 fishes), against only 814 grams of Portugal (8 fishes) and 460 of Italy (9 fishes), that are respectively second and third place of the stage.

At the total addition of weight, after the three stages, Brazil extended its vantage. Now it has 4.785 grams, against 3.244 of Portugal and 2.631 of Italy. Brazil in the individual female category also shines. Érica Martins comes in second place with 1.989 grams and Eliana Augusto in sixth with 975 grams. Who leads is the Spainard Sandra Dellafuente with 2.000 grams.

At the male competition, Brazil occupies the third place at the general rank with the total weight of the three stages. Wales, that dominated the two first stages, was surprised and doesn't appear between the three first ones (it occupies the fourth rank). In first comes Portugal with 12.926. In second comes Italy with 10.542 and in third Brazil with 10.400. At the individual, Brazil can consecrate a world-wide champion. Paulo Afonso de Medeiros (RJ) occupies the first general rank with 4.326 grams (27 fishes). Julio de Brito, also from Rio, is in sixth with 3.436 grams (34 fishes).

At today's stage, who led was Spain with 3.124 grams (11 fishes). Italy comes in second with 2.345 grams (17 fishes) and Brazil comes in forth with 2.300 grams (13 fishes). Curiously the fisherman who had the better performance in the stage of this Thursday was the Irishan, Tom Adam. He bet in the capture of baiacus and did very well, catching three of them that had resulted in 3.091 grams.

The last stage of the World-Wide Championship can reserve big surprises. At least that is what guarantees the participants, which are used to overturns of a modality that sometimes is unexpected. 'Italy is more alive than ever. The dispute is balanced and we will search heavier fishes to guarantee the competition title.' revealed the Italian's fishing director, Stefano Sarti.

Who also believes that there is nothing defined yet is the Portuguese Artur Trindade. 'Portugal is going to fight for the first place. We are always the favourites. But when it comes to fishing, anything can happen', said him. 

The last stage will be disputed in Camburi beach, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. On Saturday, starting at 8:30 am, the prizes will be rewarded at Canto do Sol Hotel.
