The worldwide fishing championship has been opened this sunday (14/10)
with the team's marching at Camburi beach, Vitória. The capital os Espírito
Santo has already mobilized for one of the most important events of its 2007
sports calendary. The event, which will be promoted for the first time outside
Europe, will count with nothing less than 14 male teams and 9 female teams. It
will be disputed until the 21th.
Vitória's mayor, João Coser, said that the city is
with 'open arms' to the confraternization of the nations. 'Everybody is very
excited with the championship, which will show the beauty and potential of our
city to the world. Every continent will be looking to Vitória and we are very
well prepared to receive them. We have all the structure needed and the
involvement with our society to this competition. This worldwide championship
is something extraordinary to our country and we are proud to be the hostess',
said.
The president of Capixaba Subaquatic Sports and
Fishing Federation, Aloysio Zavatário said that the entity is very well
prepared to receive the delegations. 'Our people are very well trained and, for
sure, the event will have a great repercussion', emphasized.
It will participate 14 male teams (Germany, Belgium,
Brazil, Croatia, Scotland, Spain , France, Greece, Netherlands, England,
Ireland, Italy, Wales and Portugal) and 9 female teams (Germany, Brazil,
Croatia, Spain, Netherlands, England, Italy, Wales and Portugal).
Tomorrow will begin the firsts official trainings at
Camburi beach. In the 17 th it's Praia do Riacho turn, at Guarapari,
to receive the participants. In the 18th, the delegations will
compete at Regência, Linhares. In the 19th, the competition comes
back to Camburi beach and in the 20 th, will happened the award. In
the 21th, the delegations leave to their countrys.
To the brazilian team's capitan, the capixaba Márcio
Maciel, there's no favorite team to conquest the worldwide championship. 'Since
the rule give vantage to the biggest fish and not the quantity of fishes
captured, I believe that all teams have equally chances', said.
The president of the Brazilian
Subaquatic Sports and Fishing Confederation, Eduardo Paim Bracony believes that
the event will bring big benefits to the city. 'The European people loves
fishing. The European media will watch closely the world wide championship and
will project Vitória to the world'.
