World Shore Fishing Championships: Results

Vitória (ES) - Brazil had an excellent participation in the World-Wide Fishing Champion, closed this Friday, in Vitória. At the female competition, Brazil was the general champion, followed by Croatia and Italy, respectively as second and third place. At the male, Brazil finished in second place, only losing for Portugal. In third comes Italy. The best fisherman of the world is the Dutch Jan Hennekam. The second best is Ricardo Silva (Portugal) and the third is the Brazilian Julio César Brito. The best of the world of the female competition is the Spaniard Sandra Dellafuente, the second most efficient is the Croatian Mirjana Pobor and the third is the Brazilian Eliana Augusto.

Brazilian female team dominated two of the four stages. In the stage of this Friday, they finished in forth with only six valid fishes, which had weighed 459 grams. Who won the stage was Croatia with 13 fishes ( 1.032 grams). England comes in second with 8 fishes (839 grams) and Spain in third with 11 fishes (819 grams).

At the male competition, Brazil had an excellent performance in the stage of this Friday, being in second place. With the result, Brazil jumped from the third general rank to the second, surpassing Italy. They captured 117 fishes, that had weighed 9.439 grams. Portugal was the best of the day with 74 fishes (7.049 grams) and Netherlands third better with 68 fishes and 6.931 grams. "We made our best possible and we achieved our goal to be between the three best ones. Vitória hosted very well the most important competition of the fishing world", said the Capixaba Márcio Maciel, captain of Brazilian male team.

At the female competition, the commemoration was intense and started as soon as the stage has finished with fireworks in the sky of Camburi beach. "It's exciting to be the world champion in our own country. All the dedication and the persistence to be in Vitória to dispute this championship was worth it.", said Eliana Augusto, the third best one of the world.
