Christmas Blog

I personally won’t mourn the passing of 2007. My fishing time was minimal due to heavy work commitments, so I couldn’t do much about that.

When I did get to go wet a line though, the weather was pants and so called global warming seemed well off the mark with persistent and cold northwest winds, heavy rain fall, flooding in many parts and weed filled surfs contributing to one of the worst weather summers I can ever remember. The autumn has been little better here on the mid Wales coast, windy all the way through and now wet as we approach Christmas. I know most of you have endured the same difficult conditions.

Whatever the weather, each year ends on a high note with Christmas. Many of my mates are looking forward to new rods, reels and tackle after dropping obvious hints to wives and girlfriends and many of you reading this will have done the same. Here’s hoping Santa brings you just what you want!

2008 sees the 10th anniversary of WSF…incredible, the time has just flown. I see there’s a few ideas kicking about on how we all should celebrate this auspicious occasion. Whatever is finally decided, I’ve no doubt it will be a great success.

I’d like to also take this opportunity to thank some special people whose contribution to WSF this past year has been vital.

The moderators, both regional and global, do an incredible job, often taking rude and abusive criticism from some forum users who are often the exact people they’re trying to protect. Mods, it’s truly appreciated, thank you!

Those of you who contribute features and blogs, I know better than most just how much hard graft goes in to compiling a single feature, again thank you!

To the more experienced forum users who pass on good knowledge to those less far down the road of angling than themselves, thank you!

And finally genuine admiration for Mike Jr. Sure, point out I’m biased, but he burns more midnight oil than anyone realises just keeping the site up and running, again takes flak from some people who show few social skills, sacrifices good fishing time to take great photos for the website, sorts all the technical problems out, simply without him WSF would not exist!

To each and everyone of you that clicks in to WSF, I wish you a really great Christmas, a happy and prosperous New Year, and sincere good luck for all your fishing trips in 2008.
