PopNet Collapsible Drop Net

The PopNet is a drop net design ideal for using from breakwaters, piers, jetties and bridges. Usually dropnets are made from totally rigid metal frames that are pain to transport due to their size. No so the PopNet.

It is constructed using a round white plastic frame that although ultra strong can flex and bend. It has what I would call a permanent memory. With the net fully open, simply twist the frame by hand at each side in opposite directions and the net twists around and inwards reducing to a third of its size. To open again just pull and twist the frame and it contorts back to its round full size shape. Fully open the net measures 30-inches, but collapsed it is just 10-inches in diameter making it easy to store in tackle boxes, rucksacks or bags.

It is supplied with a 30-inch deep nylon mesh net using inch mesh, so it can land even slim line garfish. If you net a really big fish, like a 10lb cod or bass, the frame will deliberately contort inwards eliminating the chance of a good fish jumping out. The net has an overall weight capacity of an incredible 80lbs. It is supplied ready for use with 30-feet of tough polypropylene rope and has a one year guarantee.

We tested the net on a wooden railway bridge and hauled fish up from 30-feet down, and the net performed exactly as quoted. Adding an 8oz fishing weight inside the net makes it easier to handle when lowered in high winds due to its obvious lightweight construction. It can also be used to release fish after unhooking by lowering them back to the water to swim away.

CONCLUSION
This is an excellent product! It is lightweight and small in size for easy storage and transportation. It use non corrosive materials, so has a long life, plus it is durable and tough in use.

We see the PopNet being a great success in the USA, but also expect UK and European anglers to realise its potential for elevated venues where water level access is restricted.
