Wychwood Fluorocarbon Leader

Though used mostly for trout fishing applications, we've also found this Fluoro carbon leader excellent for light saltwater fly fishing.

The 8lb and 10lb breaking strains are ideal for shallow water estuary work in very clear seas targeting school bass, garfish and scad. We've also used it for mackerel and pollack off the rock ledges. It's proved a tough and resilient line with good knot strength, plus it sinks quickly if you're using very small lightweight flies for garfish and smelt. It has a non flash finish and has little stretch helping to set the hook in smaller fish.

Aside from fly fishing, the 10lb breaking strain also gets used for hook snood line on some of our boat and shore flatfish rigs when we want to impart as much natural movement in to a bait as possible. It is also stiffer than normal monofilament which reduces tangles when fishing in the surf tables.
