Dragon Tackle Flies

Dragon Tackle produce an excellent range of saltwater flies with designs ideal for both our own UK waters, but also for foreign game fish like permit and bonefish.

They do at least three different full sets of four flies. One set includes a Sandeel imitator, a Pink Squid, a Baitfish Deceiver and an Orange Deceiver. The second set carries a Superhair Chartreuse Deceiver, White Deep Minnow, a Blue Pinocchio and Pink Shrimp. The third choice offers a Pink Thing fly, Blue Popeye Candy fly, a Green deep Minnow and a Black Deceiver.

The flies are well tied on quality hook patterns with balanced dressings and offer an all round choice to cover most daylight and dusk options for bass and pollack, and we've caught both these on the reviewed flies, but will also take mackerel, garfish and scad in the UK. Try the Sandeel and Deceiver baitfish patterns for daytime surf and estuary bass, but switch to the Black deceiver pattern towards dusk. For pollack the Orange deceiver is very effective, as is the Blue Popeye candy pattern.

We also tested them out during a recent trip to Mexico where they accounted for several different types of surf perch and snapper, needlefish, trumpet fish and jacks.
