Maria Chico Boca Lures

Made in Japan to very a very high quality, this is a non-jointed floating plug with a wide flat nose designed to create a large bow wave during the retrieve.

The plug weighs 25gms and measures 115mm. It has a steel ball inside that rolls to the rear of the lure for casting, and rolls backwards and forwards during retrieve to give that all essential rattle and vibration that really gives predatory fish that urge to attack. The added dense weight of the steel ball makes the plug cast extremely well, even in to a headwind.

The hook connection eyes formed in to the body are totally tough and there's no chance of them pulling out when you're latched in to a big fish and under heavy pressure. The treble hooks are a quality chrome pattern and attached via small split rings for ease of renewal.

The body colours are silver belly, light brown sides with black flecks and a dark blue back. There is also a bright red flash through the front lip. The plug has a built in reflective eye with the black eyeball positioned towards the front that creates a superb terrified look that imitates a small fish's reaction that's about to be eaten. Predatory fish always hit lures with eyes harder and more often than lures without eyes.

The action of the lure is to create that big bow wave at slow speeds, but a faster retrieve sees the lure push up more water, it starts to wobble from side to side, and even dips below the water to almost simulate a popper type plug. I caught bass the first time I used it and I think this lure will become a firm favourite with bass anglers. It also has the weight to reach pollack off the rocks and is ideal for working over the tops of dense kelp beds.
