Felmlee 16" Natural Sandeel Lures

We came across these American made sandeel lures on a recent trip to Westport, Co Mayo in Ireland when visiting Hewetson Brothers Tackle Shop.

These are a massive 16-inches long, but are an excellent representation of the bigger launce sandeels that live around deep water wrecks and are one of the main dietary items taken by pollack, cod and coalfish. They are in natural colours with a dark black back, shading through olive to a silver white belly.

The tail section flattens out vertically and has moulded fins above and below. The action of the lure is more a glide through the water than using a definite wriggling tail action. That said they've proved a real fish taker accounting for pollack to 15lbs and coalfish to 8lbs in initial testing. We suggest mounting these on a two-hook tandem rig with one hook mounted just rear of the head and the second just over halfway down the body towards the tail. No surprise that most fish are hook on the second hook.

The best way to prepare these is to thread the mono to take the second hook down through the centre cavity of the body with a long baiting needle, tie the hook on, then put the hook back in through the body to streamline everything.

We understand these lures are about to come in to the UK, but distribution sources are as yet unknown. However we expect them to become a real player in the top lure league especially in the New Year period for those lunker wreck pollack and coalies.

They come two in a pack.

Felmlee Sandeels are avaliable in sizes 7", 11" and 16" and are avaliable in the UK through Sharnbrook Tackle.
