Fishtek Mirrorheads

These are a chrome finished weighted fish head shape with a 90 degree bent down shank (eye at right angles to the point) hook imprisoned inside. They are designed to take artificial jellyworms or artificial soft rubber fish by sliding the soft lure up and over the hook until it butts up against the jig head. This combines both flash reflections off the jig head with the movement of the lure. The jig head is designed to be anti spin and fishes with the point of the hook and the eye of the hook facing upwards. This minimises the chance of the lure snagging.

They come in two sizes, 1ozs and 4ozs. Both sizes are ideal for casting off the shore for bass and pollack and can be worked tight along the rocky seabed and close in to kelp weed searching out all the hidey-holes that predators like to lay in. We also think Fishtek would do well with a 2oz size added to the range. This would be perfect for shore fishing situations for pollack and bass where casting distance is important.

They are also deadly used off the boats cast and retrieved sink and draw across reef structure for pollack, bass, coalfish, and if kept tight to the seabed while on the drift can also account for cod and ling. They work jigged up and down too, but are not quite as effective like this as when retrieved.

Fishtek do these in alternative coloured and lumo finishes, plus a variant incorporating a rattle bead to home fish in to the lure by noise too. The 1oz head retails for £1.25 and the 4oz £1.45.

You can also buy Mirror Fish lures from Fishtek, which are the Mirror Heads ready to fish with a superb artificial fish added to the hook. The action of these lures in the water is excellent and deadly for both bass and pollack from the shore, and for pollack, coalfish, bass and ling over reefs.
