Newquay Tackle's Flying C Lures
Paul Watts at Newquay Tackle, West Wales is one of the best tackle accessory makers I know. Nip in to his shop and if he isn't serving a customer he'll be making lures, rigs and flies to add to his shelf stock. Most are his own patterns and these Flying C type lures he's just sent for evaluation are exceptional.
You wouldn't normally consider Flying C lures for sea fishing, but Paul makes his pattern super strong with ultra tough latex tails that really do take one hell of a lot of breaking. I found I could stretch them more than four times their actual size without breaking. All the components such as blades, beads, wire and hooks used are top quality and tough. These lures last! The lead weighted heads he uses come in either conventional or bullet shaped, just state which you want.
You can have pretty much any combination of blade and latex tail you can think of. Just ask Paul when ordering and he'll build to your specification or as near as. I found the silver chrome blades with black or white tails good for bass, but the pollack prefer the gold blades and red or yellow tails, but my favourite all rounder is the two tone green/yellow tail for both pollack and bass.
He also does heavyweights Flying C's up to 45gm,which are ideal for long-range fishing for bass, pollack and mackerel.
Prices are £2.00 for 10gm lures, £2.75 up to 20gm, 20 to 30gm lures cost £3.25, and the big up to 45gm C's retail for £3.50.
