T.M.B Power Swivels
You've got to give it to Mick Ball at Town Moor Baits Tackle, he's damn good at sniffing out new accessories.
His latest find are a range of Power Swivels. I reckon I know which factory these are made in, but I'm not saying. Suffice to say though, that they seem to have been slightly modified and are now tougher than ever.
They come in six different sizes, 14, 10, 8, 6, 4 and 2. The size 2 being especially useful as several other makes don't produce this size. What's different about them is their quoted breaking strains.
Take a normal rolling swivel size 6 and it's rated at about an 80lbs breaking strain when suffering a direct pull. These Power Swivels though, at size 6, are rated at 213lbs breaking strain. The little size 10 rig swivels are quoted at 100lbs. I can't prove easily whether it's accurate or not, but are they a very tough swivel and of top quality. I'd use the size 6 and 4's on my lighter shark traces without fear. The size 6 and 4 being especially suitable for 12/20lb line class fishing and rated at a staggering 418lbs breaking strain. I reckon wreck anglers will take these like a duck to water!
The size 2 is easily tough enough for medium heavy shark rigs. Rated at 700lbs, who cares if they got the rating out by a hundred pounds or so, you're never going to be stupid enough to put that much pressure on shark, even at the boat side when handling the trace!
The 14's down to the size 6's come in packets of 25, the 14's retailing for £2.99, the 10's for £3.25, 8's cost £3.50, and the 6's setting you back £3.60. The size 4's and 2's are in packets of 10 and cost £1.80 and £2.50 respectively, plus p p.
