Varivas Big Mouth Hooks

Varivas Big-Mouth hooks have gained a good following over the past few years. It's obvious why, they are damn good hooks!

They are gun metal finished in a medium wire gauge. Have chemically sharpened needlepoint with a micro barb, but the shank is forged for strength. They penetrate easily at long range with minimal line pressure meaning more fish landed. As the name implies they are a wide-gaped hook giving ample room to position the bait without masking the hook point. This is important to me as I like to fill hooks with as much bait as is sensible to both give the fish a good mouthful, but also to disguise the hook as much as possible when fishing daylight in shallow water.

The Big-Mouth is ideal for bass and cod from the shore, but also a useful tope and ray hook, though I crimp the barbs down for the latter two species to aid hook removal. You can use them for jellyworms and inside artificial eels when rock or wreck fishing for pollack.
