Hopkins and Holloway Tip Ring Gauge
Sooner or later your favourite rod is going to need a new tip ring. Hopkins & Holloway now produce a metric tip ring gauge for easy identification of the right rod ring to fit your rod.
It's a simple thin sheet of stainless steel with holes drilled through it to the varying ring tube diameters available. It covers all sizes from the biggest 6.mm size right down to the miniscule 0.6mm size, which my dimming old peepers can hardly make out it is that small.
Use the gauge to check the size and you can walk in to a good tackle shop and get the right ring at the first time of asking. Lesser shops, well they'll never change anyway and you might still need to take the rod tip along.
This is an excellent idea and saves lots of hassle and wasted journeys searching all the local shops. If you're like me and live rural where wolves still roam and good tackle shops are few and far between, then picking up the phone and asking if they have a 4.mm Diamite in stock beats the heck out of wasting diesel at 86p a litre.
The metric tip gauge costs just £1.59 and is available from Mick Ball at Town Moor Baits & Tackle on 01302 738774
