BAITS
Whole sandeel is the best huss bait, and in smaller half sections will take the pollack to. Use mackerel and squid cocktails for the conger, or a whole squid. Rockling, dogfish and other smaller species take smaller strips of mackerel, but also try lug tipped with squid. Sand patches hold dabs and whiting.

TACKLE AND TACTICS
Several small rocky headlands here and rock ledges that can all produce fish. These marks fish best during neap tides, especially through the flood, but on bigger spring tides the bottom fishing is best concentrated around the two hours either side of low and high water slack. Night tides produce the best of the conger and huss, especially after a blow with the sea still coloured but settling down.

The ground feature is generally snaggy, so fish 5-6oz rods and a tough 7000 or 9000 sized reel loaded with 25lb to 30lb line a 60lb shock leader. Most angler fish pulley rigs for the huss and conger using 60lb mono ending with a size 6/0 Viking hook. For the smaller species a two-hook flapper and size 1 Aberdeen's works well. Use a weak link system to the lead to reduce tackle losses. If you find patches of sand in front of, switch to a three-hook flapper and size 2 to 4 hooks for the smaller species.

You get some decent coalfish from this area during February and early March which provide action when little is feeding elsewhere. Most successful for these is a two-hook rig and size 2/0 hooks baiting with frozen crab or black lug tipped with mussel.

LOCATION
Take the A5 and just before Dyffryn take the B4545 for Trearddur Bay. When you reach Trearddur bay with the bay on your left side take the next left. Continue on this road signposted for South Stack and after about three miles take the last left turn for Gors-goch and a car park. Follow the path to the rocks. Fish only in settled seas as big swells are possible here.
