Tenby Harbour Wall
BAITS
Lug and rag baits take most species, but tip with sandeel or mackerel for the bigger whiting and dabs. Bass take squid or peeler crab.
TACKLE AND TACTICS
The bulk of the fish are taken close to the wall, so keep casts short up to 20-yards and use a sliding ledger rig with two hooks on a 30-inch trace with size 2 Aberdeen's for the smaller fish. Longer casts with a three-hook flapper produces better during the ebb casting off the end of the wall. One hook flowing trace rigs with a single 4/0 hook and crab tight to the wall picks up good bass during the hour before high water. 5-6oz beachcasters and 25lb line allows smaller fish to be lifted. Take a drop net for the bigger fish.
Casting seaward off the end of the wall with mackerel and squid takes occasional thornback rays through to early November during the spring tides two hours before high water.
For general species fish the three hours either side of high water on spring tides, with night fishing by far the most productive.
