We've been dealing with a couple of sites where the popup isn't behaving as it should for some or all users. I'll make sure this site is included in the list.

Just to be sure, if anyone is still getting this you should also give a fresh clear of cookies in your browser. Work has been ongoing, so it might be probable that a fix was applied

Caught myself up on the notes on this glitch, and before I can progress any further I need those who are still getting the popup to try a cookie clean. A recent patch was applied to all sites, though since we weren't on the list at the time, I'm unsure if it would have fixed things for us

So give cookies and cache a clean. You'll get the popup one more time, and then after that, if it worked, no more. Standing by

Probably those that are blocking cookies Nick. The ad preferences use a cookie to store your cookie for a session so if you block the thing it will just keep asking because no cookie is set. The cookie is set to die at the end of the session which means that every time you log on you'll get the popup ... thats logical for an ecommerce site but surely a longer cookie shelf life (a month for instance) would make a lot more sense for a forum? It causes no more of a security risk than remaining logged in does.

The EU cookie law is a bloody farce .... in typical EU style their attempt to "make us all safe" has caused a very serious degradation in peoples use of genuine sites and hasn't helped the uneducated at all ... its just caused those that are baffled with IT to become even more so. Its quite ironic that people are now installing blocking software to stop all the data protection popups from working.

Try typing clear cookies into Google and it will give you the info for your system etc.

If you are still having trouble doing so, let me know what browser you are using (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, etc) and I'll try and find the steps

Every time you clear cookies, the popup will come back the next time you come to the site. I believe I suggested clearing before, but only to give the system a fresh start to work properly. Are you getting the popup multiple times between cleans?
