    the way to tell is
    Conger upper jaw overhangs bottom.
    Silver Eel bottom jaw protrudes out past top jaw.

    I thought the dorsal fin finished nearer the head on Congers? Which was why I wasn't sure.

    Congers have much larger eye and jaw. Plus the dorsal fin configuration mentioned above.

    Dr Henderson states the jaw is the way to tell.
    I have never known his books to be wrong but admittidly not the best photo to judge.
