Trying to keep my teenage son interested in sea fishing but several shore trips around Ayrshire and only one wee Coley to show for it and he is close to chucking it. Heading down to MOG this week. Prefer spinning but will do lug too. Read all the threads on here about the area but now more confused. Not fussy about species..... just need some action to keep him interested. I don’t expect details of your best marks but any advice appreciated.

I fished Terrally bay over high tide on Monday night with my partner and into Tuesday morning. One dog fish and a few pin whitting. Fished Luce bay on Tuesday on the incoming tide only one wee dab.

We had fresh lug, rag, mackerel, unwashed squid and bluey. We tried a multiple of set ups.

Hope you manage to have a good session.

Crikey, that sounds a bit grim.

Focus on MOG, fish the flood tide (it’s easier and more productive) and wait for high pressure to build following onshore winds (W/S/SW).

Thanks for taking the time to reply guys. Had a great day on the MOG west coast. I had nothing (on lures all day) but my son took 1 pollock on lure and 2 more on bait and he finished the day with a stunning bass at just under 2 lb. He’s got the fishing bug again so mission accomplished.

Job well done. Through time he'll appreciate the scenery, the wildlife and have his memories.
