How to remove bait ited on with elastic?

After having tried out my new baiting needles with 5 lug and elastic cotton it was a real pain removing the old stuff to re-bait.

What's the best/easiest way to remove it?

Be careful when your pulling at it so not to spring the hook into your fingers/hand, but yeah pull at the bait on the snood and cut off with scissors the stuff on the hook.

Cut the hook off and replace after pulling the bait and elastic off the snood. Saves your fingers especially when its cold and you can't feel anything.

Put old bait+elastic in a bag and take it home/bin it. Otherwise if you leave it on the beach birds, foxes and dogs will eat the lot which can't be good for them.

I personally hate elastic and only use it when I really have to.

Sounds really like you need to double pat so that one trace is always out at sea. (scissors)

I'm with you there mate, it can't be good for fish either. There has to be a more degradable option out there? You do need it for those big long distance baits...

i just run the knife along it, careful not to nick your snood line and then just pull it back to de-thread it off the hook.
