Headed down to slapton yesterday evening around 4:30. High tide was just after 6.
I was fishing 2 rods. On the 1st I was using Ragworm on a 2 hook flapper rig with size 2 hooks. I didn't get a bite all evening on this one.
On the 2nd rod I tried to target some bigger fish that might have been...
Just come back from Cold Knap expecting a good couple of Doggies & maybe an odd Ray, but instead... a blank, somehow? I was fishing two big baits on two rods, hoping for either an early pack of Smoothies to come around or to see if a Ray was lurking about, but instead, all I got were...
I've been looking into oils for old baits such as Solent Seagoo & Holy Mackerel, the thing that's stopping me tho is whether it's effective or not... I don't need to buy something that's not going to work so if anybody has used them before for either boat or shore (which I'm preferring...
First of all I'm sorry If this isn't in the right area but haven't been on here in a while so I wasn't sure where else to put this thread.
Anyway I got a cast net thats been sitting in the back of the cupboard for a while (from America) and I been wanting for a while to use it over here...
This is sometimes used in course angling to hold boilies together, but I’m wondering if the same idea could be applied to big squid/lug cocktails to stop whiting and other small species tearing the bait apart before the targeted species gets a look in. Has anyone tried this before?
Hi everyone, just wondered if anyone knew of any decent spots to collect mussels in the area? Heard down Barry Docks is alright but not sure where or how I am supposed to get to them without putting the wetsuit on  (joking). They are for bait by the way not for eating so couldn't care...

First post here and it is about bait digging, but I am not looking for any tips on areas to dig so don't worry! I'm just a very new angler and looking to dig my own baits.
I am just wondering is there any Bylaws that I need to be aware of when digging for Rags/Lugs in the Edinburgh...
I'm trying to get my hands on some live sandeel and wonder what are/is your preferred way of catching them (from the shore).
Some of the methods I've heard about are -
Catch them in a pushnet just like prawns,
A bigger net pulled about by a couple of people,
Dig them out with a fork...
Has anyone tried emulating the PVA mesh bags that carp anglers use to get more scent by their bait from the shore?
I invariably have some bait leftover after most trips and wondered if freeze drying or desiccating it, sticking it in a PVA mesh bag and using it as "groundbait" by the hook...
Ive been toying with 2 different sea bait glugs
Will be calling it "THAT GLUG STUFF". Crushed crab and ragworm glugs. Both come in said versions or chilli wave versions. completely natural .
No added preservatives .
Id like 10 or so anglers who fish regularly , any level of experience, to...
Fishing the Bristol, channel seems a lot of the cod are full of prawns and crab but we all stick to worm!
Just wondering is anyone has gone out and used prawn as a bait and how did you get in with it?
