Headed to the knap last night in hope of landing a smalleyed but yet again it wasn't to be. Fished my usual two rods, one on the dongle pulley and the other one my standard pulley pennals. All I can say is on that session the dongle done the business. Had a few mutts deep hooked on the pennals but all lip or scissor hooked on the dongle. Also managed to dongle a huss of a few pounds too. 12 fish in all but only the one huss..... You know what the others were lol🙈. I'll keep on trying folks so until next time 👍.

Busy session despite your smalleyed not showing. The dongle comes into its own when the pests are rampant. Well done.

If I'm honest I'm really starting to like them bud , I find baiting up the same as any other regular rig, now I can use any size bait on a 5-6" dongle. Now I'm using braid as my dongle I won't change that now and it takes about a minute to make one up. As for unhooking the fish well.... Dongle wins hands down. My next session im doing a dongle on both rods..... Double dongle session. 😁

Great report and no matter what anything is better than a blank.
You can only catch what's infront of you.

Go a little further west buddy.
The extra 15 miles for one session and catch your smalleyed would be cheaper than two and not. There are a few smalleyed around the knap but a better chance of catching west.

I agree Keith but walking long distances is a killer.... Anything 5 minutes from the car is perfect.

You could consider a midweek night session at Porthcawl pier, if you can tolerate the smell.
There is a good chance of one there.
You can park right by the pier.
