Fathom has an all metal body and side plates, non counterbalanced power handle otherwise same gear ratio. Just feels a more sturdy bit of kit. I have the Fathom 12 same size as the 515, unfortunately not available for sale in UK.

 

I put fathom 25 - i meant fathom 15 - asume this is the same size as the 525 ?

Is the potential casting distance equal to the 525 ?

one massive difference is torque penn 525 15lbs of pressure

penn fathom 25lbsof pressure

= more cranking pressure

 

Yes m8, they will cast just as far as the mags. If not further in the right hands. Got shot of all my mags after buying a pair o fathoms. Build quality imo is much much better & i cant praise them enough. Cant see me using anything else on the bc for a very long time.

Yep, they do that with ease m8, on a near daily basis for me

 

Yes m8, they will cast just as far as the mags. If not further in the right hands. Got shot of all my mags after buying a pair o fathoms. Build quality imo is much much better & i cant praise them enough. Cant see me using anything else on the bc for a very long time. [

wouldnt though this was possible even in the right hands i cannot see a centrefugal reel out casting a magged reel its basic physic's

& in any case it was reference to the 525's. the penn mags are just far too twitchy in my experience, just cant trust the damn things!! The fathoms run sweet as a nut & are more than capable of very good distances.long & short lobs can b done with no fear of fluffing up, & to the average fisherman that confidence is invaluable!! & will put more distance on your cast.

So yep they will cast as dar as mags, i know cause im hitting further with mine.

i have did have both lol and have no problem with my mags its how you set them up
