Made the trip to Abboutsbury yesterday(sun) arrived just before 4. Nice day, sunny, a light N wind but a flat clear sea. Plenty of others there, walked to about 200yds from the Teeth and set up. Two rods, pennel pulleys, baits rag, black lug and squid, cocktails. Frist cast a doggie, second cast a doggie and thats how it was most of the session, I finished at midnight, with a count of 21 dogs. However, an hour into darkness, a nice slack liner, me thinks COD, reeled in the slack, some weight but not a lot of fight. As the fish came up from the surf line, it looked like a codling, but no its a nice fat CHANNEL WHITTING, 47cm and 2lbs 6ozs and a new PB. Who said whitting are a pain LOL. As for the finger, unhooking one of the doggies, the second hook of the pennel , dug into my middle finger, pass the barb, lots of blood and very sore. A good session but sadly no Cod, on hols, so back down there later this week.
