well i set off to head for the solway yesterday, and decided to go to east coast instead for a bit of pollack instead of LSD's over the west side.
got up at there at 10.am, shot the big rod out with fresh peeler and left it alone, set my float rod up with a sand eel at about 20' depth.
got the spinning gear set up with a black 6" jelly with a single hook set up.
first cast ........bang a take close in.... "they're here....yeeesss"... i had another 4 cast with takes on each cast, gettin frustrated that i couldn't land one, set a pennel up on the same jelly, then nowt.........for a couple of casts,
then the float dissapeared, hoyed the spinnin rod down, struck into it and yeeeesss, she was on, the first and biggest of the day,
had another three on the float,
but the best was when i was spinning i had a take at about 50 yards out, a great fight on light gear, letting it run and playing it before landing it.
got number three in and noticed the big rod was just slightly knockin, pick it up, very slight pull and struck into a fine speciman of wrasse.
the one that got away.......... was a take close in, not expecting it, the rod doubled over and line line was flyin off, lifted into it and for a few seconds i thought this is big daddy, anyhow... its still up there..
overall a great day, weather was nice, sea was dark with a slight bump on, no divers about, supprised that there was no coalies showing, the climb back up..........still knackered
