Yes, I've fished it a few times. Nothing special but the usual suspects turn up.Can you fish off the pier?
Cheers thanks for that!Yes, I've fished it a few times. Nothing special but the usual suspects turn up.
Yes but watch it in a bit of wind, i was on there once when from literally nowhere a wave broke straight over the top of me and the lad i was with. We immediately set off back and didn't make it far when another wave did the same thing-when i turned round my mate was gone. The sea was nowhere near the level we were fishing at, these waves came from literally nothing. My mate was getting sucked under the water and smashed into the side of the pier when I noticed he still had my tripod in his hand. I shouted to hold it up and somehow dragged him up the side of it-he was a bit of a mess and cut up fairly bad. I don't take chances with the sea and this was the worst i've seen so be a bit careful on there. Can you fish off the pier?
Sound like you were both very lucky but especially your mate!Yes but watch it in a bit of wind, i was on there once when from literally nowhere a wave broke straight over the top of me and the lad i was with. Quite amazing that, you are a long way up from the high tide mark even on springs, wouldnt want to fall down the seaward side, straight onto rocks.Yes but watch it in a bit of wind, i was on there once when from literally nowhere a wave broke straight over the top of me and the lad i was with. Yes, you can take a variety of species on a float (see the float forum on here) including those two...smallish hooks and bits of rag as bait would be a good place to start...Thanks for the great reply and link.
Does float fishing work for species like Pollack and mackerel or is it lures only?
I have found that if you cast forward you can take the occasional pollock, cast to your right and its more likely to be mackerel. the weed can be a nuisance, try a lure or maybe feathers. good luckHi WSF,
I was planning on fishing at the Aberystwyth stone jetty for a few hours this summer with a small jig.
If you could give me an idea of what I might expect to catch it would be much appreciated
Thanks
Float will get pollack, mackerel, gars and bass. The corner between the stone jetty and the Beach is the spot for bass with float fished live prawn. Thanks for the great reply and link.
