Bought an old style Abu 7000 (classic red bush bearing levelwind made in Taiwan). When I got it I loaded it with braid then decided to have a look inside to see what the workings were like - in comparison to my Swedeish made 6500's.
When I re-assembled the reel it was very stiff. Loosened the drag which allowed the handle to turn more freely (but still not correctly), if the drag is tightened at all then the handle is stiff - the more the drag is tightened the stiffer the handle gets until it almost stops turning.
I checked the exploded diagram and I think the drag (washers etc) have been put back in the correct order, and if I take the right-hand side plate off the handle is still stiff so it can't be anything to do with the spool or spindle.
Any ideas what I have done? Help would be appreciated.
