Can anyone on the forum help me out? Ive been on a couple of forums only to find that some lads class the 7000 as a boat reel while others class it as a casting reel. I have used it for both but Im still mistified as to what class it truely belongs to. (Dont all argue now).

BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I use my 7000CT for heavy rock fishing/beach fishing,and a 7000 normal for light boatfishing!

I use a 7000 from the 1980's for beach casting. I removed the levelwind, sawed of the top bar and replaced the levelwind worm bar with a solid bar.
And I use it for boat fishing. Very versatile reel.

There are some people about that use it for beach and boat. Some also remove the level wind when they use it on the beach or just leave it on if they can't be bothered.
So you might say it's a boaty beach reel

I use mine in the rough ground from the shore. It's loaded with 30lb right through and will cast a long way if needed.
