Has the Pier been taken over by the EU feather chucking squad or is it still a worthwhile walk? Was thinking of a midweek trip, see if I can hook a hound or 2.
Yea so very true Nick , just how I remembered it last, makes me feel sick apart from totally peeing me off,Used to fish the "ADDY'' lots over the years. Summer for makkies and dabs. Winter for Cod. In the summer flattie fishing was always from the terminal to the first bend.
Not normally a problem during nightime but sometimes difficult when Mackeral fever took over during the daylight. Sadly there will always a problem once word has spread that (the fish are in) Drawing every other bloke and his dog to the hot venue. Cod fishing used to be good on the Addy if you understood how to fish it.
Just like uptiding from a boat is the best way to describe it Imho But no matter how many times you tried to explain the theory of uptiding etc To idiots who were swigging
Beer and/or smoking spliffs It all fell on deaf ears (mostly) and they carried on casting straight in front of them and snagging everyone when the inadequate tackle shifted
in the tide. This was all before we had our overseas fishermen who even less no speak the lingo So no chance of me visiting the Addy anytime soon .
Just as an aside I took my daughter down to the ferry terminal a couple of summers ago and looked at the addy.... 350 + rods in action All MAKKIE BASHING and cats and
Dogs walking along the wall. You could smell the urine a long way off.
i contacted harbour master folkestone he informs me they are in talks with Dover Angling to take over pier with members only as they had open day last year and the pier was abused by immigrants fishing harbour giving people verbal abuse an rubbish everywhere plus pay 4 one an 6 fish so closed till further notice. pity i enjoyed fishing thereFolkestone pier is open midweek only im pretty sure the fluff chuckers havent taken over it yet lol !!!
Im sorry to say id rather the fluff chuckers on the addy all summer because i know the cod fishing when you can have the place to your self far outweighs bottom fishing in the summer on the first half
Just my humble opinion
Yea mate I know exactly where yer coming from, my home town of Gravesend is sadly like that in many areasBefore we bash our EU cousins too much, I've met and worked with quite a few really decent ones, I know some are unpleasant but we have our own home grown skanks too.
I fished Herne Bay at the weekend and behind me were three of our finest home grown scum. Kids out of control, screaming, throwing stones in front of me ( and yes I don't have any more entitlement to the beach than them) but the parents allowed them to carry on even while the beach was empty on other spaces as they drank their beer and smoked their splifs, then when one of the kids ball floated off on the outgoing tide they thought the fisherman might catch it for them. Yea right. ( because I caught one belonging to a nice couples kid earlier)
When they buggered off they left all their crap behind, beer tins, crate, barbecue, etc, one Dad even relieved himself against the wall even though the toilet was less than 100m away. The crap that blew on the beach I binned. Make me proud to be British..
Ps they were wearing expensive designer clothes, gorgeous fit girls, but mouths like fish wife's ...
You would of thought so hey Keith the way it's gettingDo I need a passport or visa to get on it?'
Absolutely, totally agree, used to go on the POW aswell and the shelters there stunk of blimmin urine, not on atall really especially in the shelters, never did use em,All the piers reek of **** anyway, try to avoid if possible
You've got noooo chance Keith lol.Do I need a passport or visa to get on it?'
Mmmm.......yea okWorld Sea Forum should be renamed Moaners British Sea Forum – pretty much every day, there is a thread somewhere blaming foreigners for something…. Now they're taking too many Mackerel… WHAT A JOKE.
Same song every year…blah blah blah…GET A LIFE

gotta disagree with this one. Only Concrete piers and harbour arms stink of Pi55. Sadly most of the best wooden piers that have toilets and a vast array of fishing diversityAll the piers reek of **** anyway, try to avoid if possible
Why would u take a council green binWorld Sea Forum should be renamed Moaners British Sea Forum – pretty much every day, there is a thread somewhere blaming foreigners for something…. Now they're taking too many Mackerel… WHAT A JOKE.

At one time it was a very nice and comfortable pier to fish from amongst our own native freinds , a lot of the time I used to go just for the banterbecause we was all the same and on the same wave length if you get me jist, proper good lol days
But now most of us are all made to feel like aliens as the lingo somehow ain't quite the same
All you get now is a strange/ ignorant and insulting look and the speech is just a mumbled grunt and .....ERH...... Highly interesting and intelligent talk........PMSL
Can't be doing with pier's like that nowadays....shame really but if one is prepared to look in reality there are far better places that are equally as good
All the best
Stuart
I can read the words but the pronunciation eludes me. Apart from French and Spanish but I don't seem to need either of them much at the Hoe.I
I understand that Northern Exile has bought himself a forrin phrase book just so he can make himself understood when he visits the Hoe.
Pete, in how many languages can you now say "Please go away and leave me alone!"
