Ian, Have a wander to some local marks,watch the anglers,ask a few questions,if people can't be bothered to answer or offer help pi55 them off and try another,most will freely offer help and advice,we all had to be first timers once,trouble is some forget,even think of looking into a club,lots of help and advice there,and probably some more newcomers,with regards tackle,don't be bullsh1tted make your own mind up and only go for what you are comfortable with and what you can reasonably afford,once you get going it can be an expensive old game,I hope this is of some help to you,stick at it there's so much more to it than catching fish.

As ,mentioned earlier speak to local tackle shops and anglers; they will be only too pleased to help. One bit of advice....don't buy too cheap as it will spoil your enjoyment in the long run.

Got normal 10ft beach catser n reell etc n tackle box with bits in for only £26 the lot inc a stand that is. 10ft is prob better for a beginner than 12ft rod.

 

hi mate best bet for buying rod reel ect is hav a look on the net or at car boot sales can normaly pick up sum bargains tight lines jake

 

If you look around or second hand shops, you cud probably pick up a rod and reel that will sort you out for spinning and ledgering, at a pretty cheap price. under 30quid that will do the job if you look around.

 

Mate, try some of your old coarse gear for a start if you have any. A carp rod and fixed spool reel is enough to get you catching fish. Just get some grip leads and big hooks and away you go (not quite as simple as that but you get my drift!)
