Sounds like a tale that's been twisted, probably to do with the area being listed as a mcz marine conservation zone, which if came to pass no peelers or any bait could be removed from the area.

you cant take peelers between dubmill point and tommy legs at silloth !! patrols there everyday , M.C Z . area . £500 on the soit fine and all none resident vehicles that are not regestered in west cumbria will be towed away and crushed !!

ive never heard of that happening. how many people have saw or heard of it happening and it isnt a mcz yet in the latest sea angler north west report it says peelers are available at silloth so they would be breaking the law by informing people of that.

it sounds like rumors to try and stop people traveling to collect crab there to me. just because your car is not local doesn't mean your not. so doubt they could take them on that grounds alone. i have seen people down there crabbing lately dunno what they had tho.
