Anderby Creek questions

Hey guys

Just been looking at google maps, specifically at the shore near Anderby Creek, just north of Chapel Point.

I've highlighted two sections of the map, one is of what looks like a parking area, is it?

The other is of a promising looking gulley. Now I know that gullies come and go, but this looks like a big permanent one. Has anyone fished it lately and would I be wasting my time by trying it, or is there better places to fish this time of year. I'd be driving up from Winthorpe, so Anderby would be far enough out for me.

I'd be fishing in daylight too, as I don't have any night gear yet, in case that makes a difference to your answers! :)

Here's the link to the map:

here

I'm thinking either Friday or Saturday to be fishing, as I'm up in Skeg then.

Cheers

Sean

Hi Sean! Sorry I can't offer any help with regards to Anderby Creek as I have never fished there and haven't spoken to anyone who has recently.
As you are in Skegness for the weekend, my inclination would be to go to Chapel Point, a recognised venue and one which is possibly the most consistent on the Lincs. coast. It has deep water close in and is a venue which is featured elsewhere on this site. There is a car park at the Point and it's closer to Skegness than Anderby Creek. Even closer for you is the beach behind Butlins, just to the north of Skegness. It has, I am reliably informed, been producing quite good bags of fish recently. This would be on your "doorstep"!!
Finally, the High Tides in Skegness are at 0731 and 1954 this coming Friday. The afternoon/evening session should be good. As far as equiping yourself for nightime fishing is concerned, all you will need start with is a torch and a starlight which you sellotape onto your rodtip. These are obtainable from tackle shops, cost about £1.00, and in my opinion, invaluable when it comes to spotting bites. The torch will help you tackle up, bait up and find your way home in the dark!!
THANK COD FOR FISHING!!!

Never head that Butlin's beach has been fishing well before! I know of Chapel Pt., I just fancied a change of venue as all I've been landing there are dabs & flounders.

I might give Butlins a go on Friday and Sutton on Saturday.

BTW What's the b/point at Sutton Ray?

Cheers guys!

Oh (duh!) Bohemia Point!

It's not clear on the map exactly where to park on the lower "P", as it sits over a building if you zoom in. I take it that you park on the road opposite the building the "P" is over?

I'll definitely try to make it on Saturday then.

I'll be the bloke with the small torch and green waterproofs!

Hi Sean! Yes, it will be good to meet you on Saturday. Just park on the grass by the loos. I will be fishing a hundred yards to the right of the Point, unlike Corndawg I don't possess any items of fashionably and easily recognisablefishing clothing, unless you count my jeans!!
Anyway,to bring you chaps up to speed. Yesterday's outing consisited of me pumping up fresh lug at midday and Sue (daughter-in-law) fishing with one rod. During my pumping time she took a really good plump plaice and a couple of nice flounders. Later on we went back to Bohemia and I had three more flatties and another bass of about 3.5lbs. A nearby group of anglers also had a couple of bass and a few flatties. Interestingly the hour or so before High Water every just died and the crabs became very active. Perhaps fishing right up from Low Water would be an idea. However, I'm going to be doing much the same thing again today and I will be happy with the same result!! Tight Lines.
THANK COD FOR FISHING!!

Hi Phil! My son Mark has eaten the fish. I've just him asked whether it was a plaice or a flounder. He tells me it was definitely a plaice. He said it looked like a plaice and had the distinctive taste of a plaice. I believe him as he has been trained both as a chef and as a fishmonger and he tells it not the first he has caught here!! It is a species, which is, according to my books on British Sea Fish, common all around the British Isles! I do hope it is this first of many more to come our way. It's a great tasting fish.
It is a good idea of yours to take picture, however, the trouble is I don't have a camera and I've never had the desire to own one. Perhaps that is something I should now reconsider and put on my Christmas pressy list. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday Phil!!

I'll be there around half five today, armed with lug and fresh mackie (from morrisons in skeg - not the lug!)

BTW, I fished the beach at winthorpe, just to the left of where the Dunes pub was. Met a great fella by the name of Keith who'd fished that beach for many years. I didn't realise that that area of the beach fished well at all, but as it turned out it's not bad.

He said that he'd landed a 4.5 - 5lb bass from the same place last Friday night.

I fished from low tide up till about half 6 & caught (1) a flounder that didn't even cover the palm of my hand (2,3,4,5) pin whiting about 6 inches long (7) a decent keeper sized whiting of about 1 1/4lb. Pleasantly surprised was I :)

It's made me look forwards to today no end!

See ya'll later! :boat:

hey and welcome to the site.

I wouldn't mind trying Anderby Creek soon. Do many fish that part of the coast?

Although the best venue, according to this month's Sea Angler, is the beach behind Butlins of all places!

I'm up in the Skeg area a week today. Drop me a PM if you want to get together and have a session somewhere!

Cheers

Sorry to put a dampner on the weekend chaps...

But the tide is a bit too big for my liking to attempt Bohemia, which is why I am heading to Immingham.

I think the ammount of water running through the beach will just rag the leads away with it,making holding bottom nigh on impossible, and at Imingham,at least there is chance of holding bottom long enough to get a bite....

Looking to get there for 9 in the morning, with high tide at half five tea time...fish a couple or three hours back down, then home for some beer and snap...and thaw out !!

Apparently snow and cold tomorrow........:cold::cold::cold:

'AVE IT !!!!!!!! :punk:
