Probably can guess what the answer will be but here goes. Recently bought a second boat for trailering around. Its got a Lowrance lms 240 plotter/sounder combo. I just happen to have a spare colour fishfinder kicking around (as you do!) and was thinking about sticking that on as well, the idea being I can have one zoomed at one level and the other set differently.. so the questions is.... will they interfere with each other?? would it work? the other finder is a new navman 4350. Is that a better unit, in which case I suppose I could just disconnect the lowrance transducer??

they will interfere, as ours do, Koden cvs 108, and Garmin 188c, as the transducers are fairly close to each other, however we used to have a Lowrance LMS 350 (lovely set) now deceased, with its transducer near the Koden and they both worked fine, try placing the transducers further apart and try them. Hope this helps.
oohh! might be worth a go then! one transducer is currently on the transom one side so thought about mounting t'other one on a 'stick' (technical term!) and lashing it on the other side of the transom and see what gives. If it works then I'll mount it permanently, or better still get a thru-hull replacement and stick it as far forward as I can

pull a really expensive one to bits and you'll probably find.. a main pcb, an lcd/tft and a transducer as well, with much the same approach to their repair probably.

I have always thought that the phrase 'fishfinder' was an absolute marketing masterstroke by whoever came up with it.

and us anglers are always suckers for something which promises fish!!

so what I want now is an 'underwater profiling device'

show me what the bottom looks like and if the french and spanish haven't hoovered em all up I'll try find the fish myself!
