Rescue after anglers go for swim
Coastguards are warning people not to take to the water after drinking alcohol following the rescue of anglers off the Devon and Cornwall coast.
An RNAS Culdrose helicopter was called out in the early hours of Sunday to rescue four people at Shallow Point, near Whitsand Bay.

They discovered a group of seven people were having a party, and four of them decided to take a swim after drinking.

Two were treated for minor injuries at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The swimmers were rescued after being caught in currents and trapped on rocks.

Two people needed treatment for lacerations and hypothermia.

Coastguards said the incident could have been disastrous and stressed the dangers of swimming after drinking alcohol.

Great publicity for sensible anglers
