A wee change of scenery today by moving round the Solway coast a bit. Glorious weather, lots of sunshine although mate Big Tam and I did not see much of it as there were high trees behind us, leaving us in the shade. Lots of activity on the water today, canoists, jet skiers, water ski fans, yachts, ribs and quite a few small craft with anglers no doubt after the bass. Started fishing at 2 pm. as the tide began to run. Tam got the first fish, a nice plump flounder of 16" head to tail. Next fish also to Tam, a big flounder which zig zagged thru the water like a bass.
As soon as it was lifted from the water it was evident that it was a cracker.
Estimated the weight at two and a half pound, and on the scales it weighed 2 lb. 7 oz.
We called it a day at 5 pm. Tam with five flounder, lightest 1lb. 4 oz, I had six, lightest 1 lb. 3 oz. and heaviest 1 lb. 12 oz. Must repeat this excercise soon to see if I can get a 2 pounder. But tomorrow afternoon firstly a short session to try and increase my plaice tally.
