i tried fishing a shad last weekend in whitby. but had problems with the trace wrapping itself around the mainline.it was a big tide which didnt help. any ideas how i can avoid this? and is it possible to fish 2 shads at the same time? thanks:

Lowering your gear to the bottom slower, this will reduce the risk of your hook trailing up and wrapping around the mainline.
Especially if using a running boom.

As mentioned, French Boom type rigs can hold the line and trace apart by 15" but it must be slowly lowered.

Resistance to bait etc will make it push back in the tide to hit your mainline, hence the tangle.
