Read this article, I'm quite intruiged to give it a go. I realise that some fluff flingers may regard it as sacrilege but new things to try and all that.
Hi,
I've tried this it worked when fishing a lake for trout quite well. Should be ok for bass. Look at the power ball artical on this site. on one of the blogs.

hi,this is nothing new and has been used for many, many years. It is basically the same idea as using an otter board .both methods are banned on all fresh water as far as i know and if not should be.
I use a bubble float and a baited fly spoon on the trout streams locally it works well trotted downstream hold it near any eddys or other turbulant water
hope this helps dai

hi.just to highlight that bubble float and flies are banned on at least scottish rivers and most lochs.the sea is probably ok but please be aware or check local rules before hand.
I've done this, exactly as you describe.
i was at one of the local marks fishing a redgill eel 4-5ft behind a bubble float. i was getting a few fish, but the guy next to me was fly fishing and was getting loads more. i had some flys in my bag, so simply swapped over and started picking up fish right away.
i guess that they just wanted something smaller than the redgill.
I think I'll give it a go at some point, sometimes I think they do want something smaller and it never hurts to have one more trick up your sleeve though that does have the disadvantage of fewer excuses.
How about Duo Tide minnow 90S, Terrif DC-9, Toby 20g, all smaller lures that still cast well.
