Well slap my thigh and smoke me a kipper, I finally got a bass this year.

Started off the day on Ynys mon and blanked, moved from the straights toward Llandwyn, blanked, had a walk in the forest and eat the butties, lovely. Drove down toward Trefor, too rough and the tides a bit naff, veered off left toward Porthmadog, found a likely beach, jetskis jetskis jetskis. Finally they started to pack in, rod gives a thump and a 3lb 20z bass. Did everybody hear me yelling yahoo!!!!

I had almost given up hope.

Hells mouth can produce some really good bass, but it is a bit hit and miss, if they are there you can almost guarantee one. We usually park where the surfurs park and yomp down the beach to an area of water I call the maelstrom, its where the waves become very confused due to the various rip currents, which the surfers tend to avoid, lug tipped with razor clam picks out the schoolies there and sometimes bigger fish too, next time you are around, give it a go. check out windguru as it gives an idea of the expected surf, we have caught bass when there is surf and eels and turbot when there isnt. Happy hunting!
