Bait Clips..are like a hook that you put on your line then "Clip" the hook to it so your bait does not fly around when you cast out.

They help by keeping your trace more streamlined, which helps reduce damage to your bait by the cast and enables your cast to go slightly futher through the reduction in drag ;)

Just to add to the previous replies.
The hook will release from the clip on impact with the water,leaving the snood free.
