Hi. We`re also thinking of a couple of days on the boat round Bardsey soon, and I`ve just started researching the trip too. All I would say at this stage of my checks is that there can be some dangerous waters thereabouts in certain conditions, and you need to get the safety side of things very clear in your mind before setting off, especially if you are new to it in a small boat. I wouldn`t presume to offer any advice myself but there are people on here like Jon Law who know the area very well from a boat who would be well worth contacting if they dont post on this thread.

Nearly didn't see this post.

Coaster, I'm not being funny but the waters round Bardsey are more than a little treacherous, Definitely not the place for a beginner and to be honest, anything under 17' boats, are not ideal for these waters, in my humble opinion. The tide rips here can be viscous at certain stages of the tide, factor in weather and well .... It can get scary pretty fast :eek:hmy:

I'd love to be able to say, try it :) but my conscience won't allow :(

In the right boat, with the right homework and sea skills, it is a great place. Not only with its great inshore fishing there are also a variety of interesting and varied marks within a short distance ... Caswenan Rock, The Tripods, The Devils Ridge, Bastram Shoal, plus big deep wrecks, enough variety for a lifetime.

I've linked some reports I've done from round there, they might help give a better idea :)
