Hi Neil,
Don't know what it's like at the moment but I used to fish north beach at the end of the promenade past the outlet pipe and always caught small flatties close in and dogs with mackrel. I have seen some good flounder caught here.
Once my son got a couple of bass off the bridge with fresh sandeel. prefered bait of locals after bass is live sandeel I beleive.
Large bass caught from beach opposite the rock shop in town in May, there's a photo in the Beachcaster shop in town.
Will be popping over there soon as I have just picked up my rods again last week and am getting into it again.
So good luck let us know how you get on if you go over, if nothing else the scenery is great.

A year or so back I fished from the end of the breakwater into the harbour channel at Barmouth. Fast tide and very deep close in. Caught a load of black bream and eels on rag.
