Hi,

i am looking to go bass fishing this weekend in prestatyn, rhyl area (probs not the best i guess). But can you give me any tips?

Prestatyn - A wind in your face and reasonable surf will give you the best chance. I have found big blow lug if not then black lug are best baits. Sliding Bass rigs 3 or 4 0 hooks, 20 lb snoods about 3 foot long. If its overcast good - but I have caught in bright daylight recently. Fish 1 hr before 2 hrs after low - i usually go to Pensarn for high water or Kimmel Bay. Depends on how big the tides and winds are but between 3 oz at low water to 5 oz at Ht

tomorrow and saturday forcast a northly wind,so there should be a good surf for you,i use a 5 oz gripper weight and a 4/0 hook,like said above fish 1 hour before low 2 up,good luck

also what part pf prestatyn...infront of the hotel, the nova, the lido beach camp of frith end???

How far would you cast for bass and/or smooth hound/

get your waders on and cast as far as you can,good luck....im going to give it a go in the morning at colwyn bay

Thanks for advice all. Went sat early, we got 1 bass and a whiting. Think we would have caught a couple more but my reel broke on me and took ages to fix....distracted us...was a nice morning so enjoyed the day ;o)

glad you caught,what weight was the bass,i went on the 23rd sept and caught 5

was about 2-2.5 lbs, was very tasty ;o) Going this weekend somewhere, any more tips?

seems like you dont need more tips,but i dont rate these small tides for bass fishing,the bigger ones tend to stay further out,you may get some schoolies tho:fishing:

Bass can be caught any size tide imo , flood or ebb, just need to work out a particular spot , some of my marks fish early flood, some mid flood , but most over high and down a couple of hours are best.

arh right,places ive been seem to be the best at the start of the flood,i may try a bit of spinning tomorrow on the low tide
